A teacher is a person, who makes our academic years magnificent or awful. He is one of the main characters of the film of “school (university) life”.

He can be a graduate of the University of Pedagogy, a young, not yet experienced smart guy or an adult, life-taught middle-aged woman, who teaches most of her life. The only thing that unites them is love to their work. He/she is a person who is able to convey his knowledge to young, inquisitive minds and be able to control himself of any situation.

It’s known that a universal recipe “how to be a great teacher” doesn’t exist. But in this article, we tried to collect qualities that the self-respecting people knows and applies in practice.

An Ability to Listen and Correctly Ask Even the Most Difficult Questions

The skill of hearing is one of the most striking indicators that a person is worthy of being a teacher. The ability to listen perfectly shows the person’s professionalism; after all, a student’s confidence directly depends on how his teacher addresses him. If the lecturer shows his disrespect and neglect of the answer, his ward may have doubts about his own abilities. This can lead to the fact that a person closes in himself, and in the future, it will be difficult to overcome this feeling.

The ability to ask the question correctly is one of the main tools.

These can be suggestive questions or questions that can open the door to further study life’s paths. Such questions simply cannot remain without an attempt to answer, even a mental one.

None self-respecting person will allow himself to humiliate and insult another person, for the teacher, this is absolutely impermissible. Maturity Isn’t Age, It Is a Perception of the World

The teacher should be higher in consciousness than his students, even if the difference in age is only a few years. Maturity manifests itself in his ability to take responsibility for the situation in the classroom. He should be able to find a solution to a conflict situation.

Naturally, every person can experience anger, unrestrained joy, but the lecturer cannot allow weakness.

An Ability to Expose Plain Facts by Coloring Them Emotionally.

Information itself is difficult to keep in mind, plain facts from history or terms from physics are difficult to just memorize, they have to be understood. The teacher should be able to convey emotions, have to be able to give this information “in language” accessible to the listener.

The students fall in love with the lesson of such a teacher. Even if this “love” remains in school, they will be happy to hear it and will realize the basics of the subject.

Wisdom Is More Important Than IQ Scores

A good lecturer is appreciated for his wisdom – students can outperform him in IQ, but only a wise mentor can direct them to their path. He will help curb and understand their strength.
